Title:  Shoregate Transfer Center Improvement Project (PID 122934)

Sponsor:   Laketran

Estimated Total Cost: $1,000,000

Estimated NOACA Commitment: N/A

Proposed Source of Federal Funds:  STBG flex funds through the ODOT Ohio Workforce Mobility Program

History/Background: – This provides Laketran funding to begin establishing more robust infrastructure at an economically significant job center. The location currently records over 4,000 transferers monthly between GCRTA and Laketran, with a significant portion of transfers for work-related trips.  This project proposes to upgrade the current bus stop by enhancing the passenger amenities with jointly operated real‐time signage for both Laketran and GCRTA, an indoor waiting environment and enhanced safety with clearly marked bus lanes, bus parking, and pedestrian crossings. Laketran and GCRTA will continue to jointly use and share the site.

Because important siting details are still being determined, Laketran narrowed the scope of their grant request to the Ohio Workforce Mobility Program. Instead of requesting full funding for construction of a permanent transit center, Laketran requested partial funding that will construct the concrete bus layover locations, curbs, sidewalks and striping for crosswalks and traffic.
