Rehabilitation Along I-90 in Lake County

Project Name: Rehabilitation along I-90 in Willoughby, Mentor, Kirtland Hills and Concord Township

Estimated Total Cost: $77,082,311

Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT

History/Background:

This project is included in ODOT District 12’s Program.

LAK IR 90 – 06.99 REHAB: PID No. 116955 - This project involves replacing the unbonded concrete overlay portion of IR -90, in Lake County, from approximately Kirtland Road to Morley Road, in Willoughby, Mentor, Kirtland Hills and Concord Township (location map). The project also includes:

  • Investigate and confirm the vertical clearance of nine (9) overhead bridges in the corridor;
  • Lowering the pavement under the structures to achieve a vertical clearance of at least 16.5ft along the IR-90 mainline;
  • Bridge maintenance for the overhead bridges that can take advantage of the long-term traffic zones needed to replace the pavement along the project length.

The consultant would confirm the deficiencies noted in the bridge inspection reports and develop repair plans. Items of work may include:

  • Bearing Repair/Replace, Steel Repairs, Substructure sealing, Pier Repair, Drainage System, Slope Repair and Spall Removal. Investigate the need for Interchange lighting within the corridor.
  • Rest Area parking lot resurfacing to be included.

The project’s estimated total cost, provided by the sponsor, is $77,082,311. The estimated cost of preliminary engineering preliminary development (PEPD) is $5,082,311. The estimated cost of preliminary engineering detailed design (PEDD) is $2,000,000. The estimated cost of construction (CO) is $70,000,000. The project will be fully funded with Federal and State Multi-Lane Major Rehabilitation Program funds.
