CLEVELAND (Jan. 24, 2025) - The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) Board of Directors elected Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne to Board President for 2025 at its meeting today.

NOACA, which conducts transportation and environmental planning for Northeast Ohio, elects Board presidents to one-year terms.

Ronayne brings a wealth and breadth of public service experience to NOACA, having served previously on the NOACA Board of Directors from 2002 to 2004 while as the Director of City of Cleveland Planning Commission and since 2023 upon being elected as Cuyahoga County Executive. During the past year, he has served as First Vice President of the NOACA Executive Board Committee, and member of the Governance Committee, External Affairs Committee, Policy Committee and Economic Development Subcommittee.

County Executive Ronayne is a 40-year resident of Cuyahoga County. He began his career in public service with the County Planning Commission where he developed community reinvestment plans and in Cuyahoga County government and launched the Division of Employer Resources. He has led major visionary projects like the Cleveland Lakefront Plan securing tens of millions of dollars in state and federal funds that was the impetus and major groundwork laid for millions of investment projects that we see today.

Ronayne’s continued vision and involvement includes regional initiatives like the Affordable Housing Fund, environmental sustainability and Safety Action Plan for safe transportation networks, which aligns with NOACA’s priorities and goals.

Before assuming his position as Cuyahoga County Executive, Ronayne served as the President of University Circle Inc. (UCI), a non-profit community service corporation where he successfully oversaw the growth of a vital employment district transforming the education, medical, and cultural district into a thriving complete community.
