NOACAs Regional Climate Action Planning Engagement Sessions

Post Date:07/20/2023 12:00 PM

Revised: (9/28/23)  Visit eNEO2050 for meeting updates.

The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) will host a series of public engagement meetings to discuss regional climate action planning in the month of August.

Northeast Ohio is experiencing the impacts of climate change with hotter summers, heavier rainfall, and more intense storms that threaten the health, well-being, community prosperity, and environmental quality in the region.

In light of the new climate reality, NOACA is taking steps to improve the resiliency of the region through the development of its climate action planning efforts under its carbon reduction program.

As part of this process, a series of community engagement meetings in NOACA’s five-service counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina, will be held to solicit input and feedback from residents on their greatest concerns with climate action; what criteria should be used to evaluate possible actions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; and regional focus areas for planning consideration. Gaining insights from the public will help develop a stronger, more inclusive planning for the NOACA region.

The engagement meetings will be facilitated by NOACA staff and the Joel Ratner Community Partnership, which was retained as the community engagement consultant. Meetings will be held from August 14-24 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the following locations.
