NOACA has contracted services with Commute with Enterprise to launch its vanpool program.
Vanpools are a way for 5-15 people to get access to a van, complete with insurance, maintenance, and fuel. All members of the vanpool split the operating costs, keeping the commute affordable and stress-free. It’s a great option for groups of commuters who live and work near each other and have similar work schedules. It also helps commuters reduce the amount of wear and tear on personal vehicles.
Because Commute with Enterprise owns and maintains the vehicle, a vanpool can be an easy, turnkey solution for fellow commuters. The program includes late-model, low-mileage SUVs and vans that come complete with amenities such as in-vehicle Wi-Fi and leather seats.
Monthly costs depend on the vehicle type and the distance you travel. Participants in the vanpool split the costs for rent and fuel. To lessen the cost, NOACA is offering subsidies that cover 50% to 80% of vehicle leasing for eligible vanpools that:
- Support travel options where public transportation is not adequate
- Connect those in need to new employment opportunities
- Operate at a maximum capacity and benefit
NOACA is also partnering with Commute with Enterprise to offer an Emergency Ride Home Guaranteed Program for participants who get sick at work, need to pick up a child at school, or need to stay late at work. In these situations, NOACA will reimburse up to 80% of a bus ticket, Uber, Lyft, or taxi fare needed for the trip home, up to a maximum of four trips per year and $60 per trip.
