Wisner Road Bridge Replacement

 

The Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the TIP by adopting Resolution No. 2000-078 on 12/08/00

History/Background:
The Wisner Road (TR-84) bridge is located on a section of highway maintained by the Chardon Township.  The sponsor received CEAO's approval for the project to use Federal-aid Local Bridge (LBR) funds, administered through the CEAO.

Current Conditions:
Wisner Road is functionally classified as a rural local road. The local zoning is residential.  The age of the bridge is unknown. The sufficiency rating is 25.50. The load limits on the bridge have been reduced by 30%.  The average daily traffic (ADT) is 250 (1999 traffic count).  The legal speed limit is 35 mph.  There are no current or proposed bike lanes in the area.

Proposed Project:
The project involves the replacement of a bridge on Wisner Road, over Hayden Creek, located at mile marker 2.06, in Chardon Township.

The bridge will replace the existing 24' span stone arch over Hayden Creek.  The proposed structure will be a 3 sided, pre-cast concrete structure designed to be 28'wide.  The project length is 0.020 mile (105').

The Geauga County Engineers' in-house staff will design the project using Geauga County local standards.  The sponsor intends to administer the project.

The project's total construction cost is estimated at $200,000.  The preliminary engineering (PE), right-of-way (RW) and 20% of construction (C) will be locally funded.  The estimated service life of the project is fifty years.

The sponsor anticipates minimal environmental impact.

Staff Assessment (Summary):
The County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) approved the project for Local Bridge Funds (LBR) in SFY 2004. The sponsor wants to advance the project to SFY 2003.  Unless the CEAO approves the advancement of the project, it will be programmed by NOACA for SFY 2004. 

  • The bridge is currently posted for reduced load limits.  Replacement of the bridge should proceed to assure proper use by legal standards.
