The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-024 on March 14, 2003.
Title: Resurfacing US-6 in Cleveland Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation-District 12 Estimated Total Cost: $1,980,000 Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT
History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s SFY 2004 Pavement Program.
Current Conditions: US-6 is functionally classified as a principal arterial. The legal speed limit is 55 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 42,360 vehicles per day (2000 count).
Proposed Project: This project involves resurfacing approximately 2 miles of US-6 (the West Shoreway ) from Lake Avenue to the Main Avenue Bridge in the City of Cleveland. Eighty percent ($1,584,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. ODOT will fund the 20% ($396,000) non-federal share. This project would begin in SFY 2003.
Staff Comment (Summary):
- This project adheres to ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
- Recommend approval of this high cost preservation action in SFY 2003.
- Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
