US-20 (North Ridge Road) is functionally classified as minor arterial. The speed limit is 40 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 8,420 (1992 count) vehicles per day.  The structure  is a two (2) lane facility with twelve (12) foot lanes.

This project involves total replacement of the bridge on US-20, over the Fairport, Painesville and Eastern  (F. P. & E.) railroad , west of SR-535 (Nursery Road).  Detours are available on nearby SR-2 and SR-535. Eighty percent ($828,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded from ODOT's District bridge allocation  using State Surface Transportation  Program (S/STP) funds. ODOT will fund the twenty percent ($207,000) non-federal share.

Intergovernmental Review (IGR):
City of Painesville via Mayor (Engineer/Service Director Gary A. Paine):

A. Construction and road closures should be coordinated with the SR84 Bridge Replacement over Grand River Project, and also the SR86 Realignment Project.  Both of these projects involve road closures for considerable period of time and involve primary east-west arteries into and out of Painesville.  Closures of more than one route at any one time will overburden the other available east-west routes.

B. Relocation of some City of Painesville utilities may be required.  Contact Painesville City Electric Distribution Dept. at 440-639-4826.

"The City of Painesville supports the project but wishes the comments of the April 24, 2001 memorandum from City Engineer Gary Paine to be included and considered."
