The NOACA Governing Board approved the
following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-036 on June 13,
2003.
Title: Bridge Replacement on US-20 in Painesville Township Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 12 Estimated Total Cost: $220,000
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT
History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s SFY 2004 Bridge Program.
Current Conditions: US-20 (North Ridge Road) is functionally classified as a rural minor arterial. The posted speed limit is 40 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 9,300 vehicles per day (4% trucks) as per a 2002 count. The existing number of lanes is four (4), ten feet wide.
Proposed Project: This project involves replacing the bridge on US-20 over Red Creek in Painesville Township. The proposed number of lanes remains the same (four), but with the two inner lanes ten feet wide; the two outer lanes eleven feet wide and shoulders two feet wide. Eighty percent ($176,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with Bridge (BR) funds. ODOT will fund the remaining twenty percent ($44,000). This project has an award date in SFY 2005.
Staff Comment (Summary):
- This project meets NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
- Operations on LAKETRAN’s Route #4 will be affected during construction.
- The project does not directly serve Urban Core or Environmental Justice (EJ) populations.
- Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
