Transportation Enhancement (TE) Activity Projects

One of the types of federal-aid funding NOACA receives is Transportation Enhancement (TE) activity funds for projects that enhance or beautify transportation projects and facilities.

Only $1.7 million of TE funds are available in the NOACA region through state fiscal year (SFY) 2009, and they are already allocated or planned for existing and selected projects. For this reason, the NOACA Governing Board amended its Transportation Enhancement policy in July 2006 to suspend TE applications through SFY 2009 (which ends June 30, 2009).

According to the revised policy, NOACA will lift the suspension of TE applications if one or more of the following circumstances generate a pool of $3 million or more in TE funding:

  • The Ohio Department of Transportation reassigns additional TE funds for use in the NOACA region,
  • A previously selected TE project(s) is cancelled and TE funds are released, and/or
  • A change in federal transportation funding generates additional TE funding.
The complete policy amendment is in NOACA’s Regional Transportation Investment Policy.
