Resurfacing SR-87 in Burton, Burton Twp and Middlefield Twp

 

The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project as a candidate to be amended to the NOACA Transportation Plan by adopting Resolution No. 2005-012 and as a proposed amendment to the TIP by adopting Resolution 2005-013 on March 11, 2005.

Title: SR-87 Resurfacing in Burton and Burton and Middlefield Townships

History/Background:  This project is included in the ODOT District 12 Pavement Program.

Current Conditions: SR-87 (Kinsman Road) is functionally classified as a rural major collector. It is a two-lane facility with lanes eleven feet (11’) wide. The legal speed limit is 50 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) varies between 7,300 to 9,550 vehicles per day (2001 count).

Proposed Project: This project involves resurfacing SR-87, from the Burton Village west corporation line (WCL) to the Middlefield Village WCL in Burton and Burton and Middlefield Townships. The total construction cost is estimated at $594,000. Eighty percent ($475,200) of the construction (C) cost will be funded from State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. ODOT will fund the 20% ($118,800) non-federal share. The project would be awarded in June 2008.

Staff Comment (Summary):

  • This project promotes NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goals 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System).
  • Recommend approval of this preservation action.
  • Information was requested from sponsor in December by the Regional Transportation System Team and has not yet been received. Comments will be made after the requested information is received.
  • Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
