SR-83 and SR-254 Resurface in Avon Resurfacing

 

The Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the TIP by adopting Resolution No. 2001-020 on 03/09/01

History/Background:
This project is a two-lane resurfacing project. The project is part of District 3's Urban Paving Program (UPP). The project will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) from ODOT District 3's pavement allocation.

Current Conditions:
SR-83 (Wooster-Avon Lake Road) and SR-254 (Detroit Road) are two lane facilities, with 12' lanes and  no  paved shoulders.  SR-83 and SR-254 are functionally classified as a urban minor arterials.   The average daily  traffic (ADT)  on  SR-83 varies between 11,710 and 19,090 vehicles per day (2000 traffic count). The ADT on SR-254 varies between 8,670 and 10,750 vehicles per day.  SR-83 averages 30 or more trucks, buses or recreational vehicles in the peak hour. The speed limit on SR-83 and SR-254 is 55 miles per hour (MPH). 

Proposed Project:
The project involves resurfacing SR-83, from the Avon south corporation line (SCL) to the Avon north corporation line (ECL), and SR-254, from the west corporation line (WCL) to the east Corporation line ECL,  in Avon.

The ODOT District 3 production department will prepare the plans for the project. Construction will be scheduled for SFY 2003.  Eighty percent of the construction cost will be funded from S/STP funds. Twenty percent of the construction cost will funded by the City of Avon (as per UPP).
