SR-611 Resufacing

The Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the TIP by adopting Resolution No. 2000-078 on 12/08/00

Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 3
Estimated Total Cost:> $577,055
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT

History/Background:
This project is a two-lane resurfacing project. The project will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) from ODOT District 3's pavement allocation. The project is part of District 3's Urban Paving Program (UPP).

Current Conditions:
SR-611 is functionally classified as a minor arterial.  This is primarily a two-lane facility with turning lanes at various segments. The average daily traffic (ADT) varies between 10,660 and 14,950 (as per NOACA 1997 traffic count).

Proposed Project
The project involves resurfacing SR-611 (West 21st Street/Henderson Drive), from US-6 (West Erie Avenue) to Colorado Avenue (SR-611), in Lorain.

The ODOT District 3 production department will prepare the plans for the project. Construction would be scheduled for SFY 2002.  Eighty percent of the construction cost will be funded from S/STP funds. Twenty percent of the construction cost will funded by the City of Lorain (as per UPP).

Bicycle Advisory Subcommittee (BASC):

This segment of SR 611 is marked "unsuitable" on the Lorain County bike map. It would be desirable for a roadway with this speed and ADT to have at least a 14' curb lane; however, this project is resurfacing curb to curb only.
