Title: Replace Bridge on SR-511 in Camden Township

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 3’s bridge program.
Current Conditions: SR-511 (Ashland-Kipton Road) is functionally classified as a local road, south of US-20 (Oberlin-Norwalk Road). The bridge on SR-511 is a two-lane facility, with lanes 11 feet wide.The pavement width is 22 feet. The bridge is 36 feet wide and 81 feet long. The structure has a general sufficiency rating of 55.3 (per a June 2009 inspection).
The speed limit on SR-511 is 55 miles per hour. The average daily traffic is 2,220 vehicles per day with 5 percent trucks (2009).
Proposed Project: The project involves replacing the deficient 81-foot structure on SR-511, over the East Branch of the Vermilion River, 0.26 mile south of US-20, in Camden Township (location map). The total construction cost is estimated to be $615,371. Eighty percent ($492,297) of the construction cost will be funded from District 3’s Preservation (highways & bridges) Program. Twenty percent ($123,074) of the construction cost will be funded by ODOT. This project has an estimated award date of October 1, 2012.

- This project is consistent with NOACA’s Connections 2030 Goal #3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio 2004 - 2030 Goal #4 (System Preservation).
- Recommend committee and public review in order to obtain comments.

- The most recent information NOACA has for this structure is from 7/16/07. The General Appraisal for this structure was 4 (poor condition). A definition of poor condition is “advanced section loss, deterioration of spalling.”
