Title: Replace Bridge on SR-301 in the Village of Sheffield
Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation-District 3
PID No: 80126
Estimated Total Cost: $475,000
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 3’s bridge program.

Current Conditions: SR-301 (Abbe Road) is functionally classified as an urban minor arterial. SR-301 is a two-lane facility. The existing pavement width is 22 feet, including paved shoulders. The deck of the bridge on SR-301 is two lanes, ten feet wide, with one-foot shoulders. The width of the bridge deck is 24 feet, and the width of the existing right-of-way is 95 feet. The bridge structure is approximately 25 feet long. The average daily traffic on SR-301 is 8,820 vehicles per day with about five percent trucks (2005 count). The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour.

Proposed Project: The project involves replacing the structurally deficient bridge on SR-301, over Jungpluth Ditch, in the Village of Sheffield. The proposed bridge deck will remain two lanes, but lane, shoulder and right-of-way widths are to be determined. The estimated total construction cost is $475,000. Eighty percent ($380,000) of the construction cost will be funded from District 3’s Preservation (highways & bridges) Program. Twenty percent ($95,000) of the construction cost will be provided by ODOT. This project has an award date of January 1, 2011.
