Replace and Widen Bridge Decks on SR-2 in Elyria Township

 

The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project as a candidate to be amended to the NOACA Transportation Plan by adopting Resolution No. 2004-044 on September 10, 2004.

History/Background:
This project is included in ODOT District 3’s bridge program.

Current Conditions:
SR-2 is functionally classified as an urban principal arterial freeway. The operating speed varies between 55 mph and 65 mph. The average daily traffic (ADT) is 56,650 (2000 traffic count). The facility is two lanes in each direction with a pavement width of 24’ (in each direction).

Proposed Project:
The project involves replacing and widening the decks of bridge structures on SR-2 over the NS railroad and Murray Ridge Road, in Elyria Township. The ODOT District 3 production department will prepare the plans for the project. The total construction cost is estimated at $3,960,000. Eighty percent of the construction cost ($3,168,000) will be funded from District 3’s Preservation (highways & bridges) Program. Twenty percent of the construction cost ($792,000) will be funded by ODOT. This project has an award date of January 2007 (SFY 2007).

Staff Comment (Summary):

  • This project promotes NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goal 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio Goal 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • Advance to committee and public review in order to obtain comments with the understanding that the sponsor will make a good-faith effort to address questions and comments.
