History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s Maintenance program.

Current Conditions: SR-17 (Granger Road) is functionally classified as an urban minor arterial. SR-17 is a four-lane facility. The average daily traffic is 11,710 vehicles per day (NOACA Cuyahoga County Highway Traffic Count Map, 2006-2009).

Proposed Project: The project involves slope repair and erosion protection on SR-17, near the Schaaf Road Bridge, in Brooklyn Heights (location map). The work will include repairing the failing slope by installing storm sewers to control drainage, filling in eroded drainage swale with embankment, and rock channel protection. Work will also include repairing the pavement shoulder and guardrail. The construction cost is estimated to be $261,973. Eighty percent ($209,578) of the construction cost will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. Twenty percent ($52,394) of the construction cost will be funded by ODOT. The sponsor estimates that the project can be awarded on July 1, 2011.
