History/Background: This project is in ODOT District 3’s Maintenance Program.

Current Conditions: SR-162 is functional classified as a rural major collector. The sponsor reports the pavement width is 24 feet, with 12-foot-wide lanes and aggregate shoulders, one foot wide. The width of the existing right-of-way is 60 feet. The speed limit is 55 miles per hour. The average daily traffic on SR-162 is 3,300 vehicles per day with five percent trucks (2007 count).

Proposed Project: This project involves a culvert replacement on SR-162, 0.28 miles east of Brynwood Road, in Montville Township (location map). The estimated cost of construction is $140,000. Eighty percent ($112,000) of the construction cost will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program funds. The non-federal share ($28,000) of the construction cost will be provided by ODOT. This project has an estimated award date of October 1, 2011.
