Bridge Replacement on SR-283 in Eastlake

 

The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-036 on June 13, 2003.

Title: Bridge Replacement on SR-283 in Eastlake

History/Background:
This project is included in ODOT District 12’s SFY 2004 Bridge Program.

Current Conditions:
SR-283 (Lakeshore Boulevard) is functionally classified as a minor arterial. The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 13,930 vehicles per day with 1.7% trucks (1999 count). The existing number of lanes is two (2) twelve feet (12’) wide. The existing width of the sidewalks is four feet (4’).

Proposed Project:
This project involves replacing the bridge on SR-283 over the Chagrin River in Eastlake. Eighty percent ($2,200,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. ODOT will fund the remaining twenty percent ($550,000). This project has an award date in SFY 2005.

Staff Comment (Summary):

  • This project meets NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • This project is located in an Urban Core Community.
  • Operations on LAKETRAN’s Route #3 will be affected during construction.
  • Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
