 | Governing Board Action: September 9, 2005
Today the NOACA Governing Board recommended four regional projects totaling $82.2 million for Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Major New Construction funding. NOACA staff will present the projects to the State-appointed Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) on October 6. The TRAC annually selects major investments (over $5 million in cost) statewide for Major New Construction funding. The four projects are:
- Widen US-42 from Boston Road to Schurmer Road in Strongsville (Cuyahoga County);
- Widen SR-254 from Columbia to Crocker Road in Westlake (Cuyahoga County);
- Widen I-77 from I-80 to SR-82 in Broadview Heights and Independence (Cuyahoga County); and
- Widen I-271 from I-480 east to I-480 north in Oakwood Village, Bedford Heights and North Randall (Cuyahoga County)
.
The Board also adopted a resolution of support for Issue 1, which, if approved by Ohio voters, will provide $1.35 billion to help local governments finance roads, bridges, wastewater treatment facilities, storm systems, sanitary collection systems and other vital infrastructure improvements.
In other action, the Board:
- Amended the Transportation Plan, Connections 2030, with eight projects from throughout the five-county area, and amended the Fiscal Years 2006 – 2009 Transportation Improvement Program with nine projects.
- Approved transfer of a portion of the Painesville Wastewater Facility Planning Area to the Lake County Wastewater Planning Area, thereby amending the region’s 2000 Clean Water Plan.
- Endorsed the Great Lakes Collaborative Draft Strategic Plan, a cooperative strategy to restore, protect and sustain the Great Lakes endorsed by government agencies and stakeholder organizations.
- Approved a contract with PB Consult to convert NOACA’s transportation modeling software from TRANPLAN to CUBE. This conversion will enable NOACA to efficiently coordinate with ODOT on modeling efforts.
