How long has NOACA existed?

NOACA has served northeast Ohio for almost four decades. NOACA was organized in June 1968 by the County Board of Commissioners from seven counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit and Portage. In 1975 Summit and Portage Counties left NOACA to form a separate MPO. As part of its initial organization, NOACA absorbed the existing Seven County Land Use Transportation Study (SCOTS), the original metropolitan-level transportation study that was started in the early 1960’s in response to the first federal legislation for such activities.
