Title: Realign SR-528 in Thompson Township

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s 10-Year Program.
Current Conditions: SR-528 (Madison Road) is functionally classified as a rural major collector. SR-528 is a two-lane facility. The pavement width is 22 feet. The average daily traffic is 3,180 vehicles per day (NOACA Geauga County Highway Traffic Counts, published January 2009).
Proposed Project: The project involves redesigning the curve on SR-528 to reduce crashes. The section is approximately 1,000 feet in length, north of SR-166 (Rock Creek Road) in Thompson Township (location map). The construction cost is estimated to be $427,000. Ninety percent of the construction cost ($384,300) will be funded with State Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. Twenty percent of the construction cost ($42,700) will be funded by ODOT. This project has an estimated award date of January 1, 2011.

- This project is consistent with NOACA’s Connections 2030 Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio 2004 - 2030 Goals #1 (Transportation Safety).
