Public Forum Addresses Proposed Interchange at I-90 and Nagel Road in Avon
What are the potential impacts – on transportation and economic development – of adding a new interchange at I-90 and Nagel Road in Avon? What would be the effects if a new interchange is not added?
These are the questions the Governing Board of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) has commissioned consultants D. B. Hartt Inc., Silverlode Consulting and Oxbow Engineering to investigate. These consultants have been working since May 2007 on an economic development impact analysis of the proposed interchange.
The consultants will present their preliminary findings at a public forum on Wednesday, August 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Spitzer Conference Center at Lorain County Community College.
The meeting will include a presentation on the study methodology, development parameters, assumptions, findings and observations with respect to the direct and indirect impacts the consultants have developed to date. A question and answer session will follow the presentation to solicit concerns, thoughts and comments from the public and other interested parties.
“Because public involvement is an essential part of our planning efforts, we encourage people to come to this public forum to share their thoughts and opinions,” says NOACA Executive Director Howard R. Maier. “These types of decisions affect Northeast Ohio, and the public should have input into them.”
Individuals who are unable to attend the public forum but would still like to comments can submit them by e-mail or mail them to NOACA at 1299 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114.
Documents relating to the Avon interchange proposal are available on NOACA’s Web site.
