NOACA Invites Public Comment on its Fiscal Year 2005 Overall Work Program

The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) Transportation Advisory Committee, at its April 16 meeting, reviewed the Fiscal Year 2005 Overall Work Program (OWP) and recommended NOACA Governing Board adoption. The OWP describes the transportation, air quality and water quality planning activities and projects NOACA plans to undertake in the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1, 2004.

Some of the highlights of the FY 2005 OWP include:

  • Regional Transportation Plan development

  • Regional Pavement Management Program for prioritizing road reconstruction and resurfacing projects

  • Bicycle and pedestrian facilities planning

  • Transportation planning for the elderly and physically disabled

  • Transportation Improvement Program development

  • Annual Summit development

  • Public Involvement and Outreach

  • Regional Ozone Action Days Program

  • Water Quality Planning and watershed protection initiatives

  • Transportation for Livable Communities Program

The Transportation for Livable Communities Program is a new project in this year’s OWP. NOACA will allocate federal funding annually to this program to assist in the early planning of transportation improvement projects that meet NOACA’s Plan goals and provide benefit to the community.

This draft FY 2005 OWP is currently available on NOACA’s web site, www.noaca.org, for public comment. A link to the document is located on the web site home page. In addition, another link is provided for making comments through the Internet. A newsletter highlighting OWP projects is also available for review through the same home page link. A draft of the OWP is also available at NOACA’s office, 1299 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114, for public review and comment. Citizens may comment on the FY 05 OWP until Thursday, May13. The NOACA Governing Board will consider adopting the FY 05 OWP at its May 14, 2004 meeting.
