Title: I-480 Preventive Maintenance in North Ridgeville

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 3’ Pavement Program.
Current Conditions: I-480 is functionally classified as an urban interstate. It is a two-lane facility with a pavement width of 24 feet, from I-80 (the Turnpike) to approximately 0.77 mile east of I-80, and six lanes (with a pavement width of 36 feet) from 0.77 mile east of I-80 to the Lorain County/Cuyahoga County Line. The lanes are 12 feet wide. The legal speed limit is 60 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 15,100 vehicles per day (NOACA Lorain County Highway Traffic Counts, published May 2006).
Proposed Project: This project involves preventive maintenance along 1.20 miles of I-480, from I-80 to the Lorain County/Cuyahoga County line, in North Ridgeville. The total construction cost is estimated to be $261,649. Ninety percent ($235,484) of the construction (C) cost will be funded from district’s Preservation (highways & bridges) Program. ODOT will fund the ten percent ($26,165) non-federal share. The project’s estimated award date is January 2009.

Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Team:
- This project promotes NOACA’s Connections 2030 Plan Goal 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio Goal 1 (System Preservation and Management).
- Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
Regional Transportation System (RTS) Team:
- The 2006 pavement condition rating (PCR) is 91-92 (Very Good) and is projected to be 84-83 (Good) in 2009.
