Miles Road Bridge in Bentleyville

 

The Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the TIP by adopting Resolution No. 2000-078 on 12/08/00

History/Background:
The bridge rehabilitation project (CUY MILES RD: PID No. 19269) proposed for enhancements is listed in the NOACA SFY 2002 Transportation Improvement Program. The sponsor is proposing scenic enhancements to that  project, using NOACA-attributable Surface Transportation  Program Enhancement (E/STP-M) funds.

Current Conditions:
The rehabilitation of the Miles Road Bridges (Nos. 178 and 179), over Deerlick Creek and the Chagrin River, in Bentleyville is scheduled for construction in SFY 2002. 

Proposed Project:
This project involves enhancements to the two bridges (to be rehabilitated), which include concrete railings with decorative fencing, architectural treatment of parapet (railing), eight (8) concrete pilasters with light supports off bridges and a lighting system.  The soponsor is requesting E/STP-M to fund eighty percent ($122,079) of the construction cost. The non-federal share of this construction would be provided by the Village of Bentleyville.

Incorporate into Miles Road project based on timing of rehabilitation project schedule and available NOACA funds.

Public Involvement:
Several residents from the Village of Bentleyville have expressed concerns over the lighting for the Miles Road Bridge. Thirty-eight residents signed a letter of concern stating that they are not in favor of adding decorative lighting to the bridge, as proposed.

The RTIS recommends this project for TAC approval.

Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC)
The TAC recommends this project for Governing Board approval, however, the enhancement portion of the project (decorative lighting) will be revisited by the Village of Bentleyville.
