Title: Bridge Deck Replacement on the Innerbelt Curve in Cleveland

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s 2009 Bridge Program. This project is necessary due to delay of the Innerbelt projects.

Current Conditions: I-90 is functionally classified as an urban principal arterial interstate. The legal speed limit is 55 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 134,650 vehicles per day (1996 count). GCRTA operates flyer service along this segment.

Proposed Project: This project involves replacing the bridge deck on SR-2 over the Innerbelt Curve. The estimated total construction cost of the project is $1,650,000. Ninety percent ($1,485,000) of the cost will be funded with District Preservation/Pavement & Bridge Surface Transportation program (S/STP) funds. ODOT will fund the ten-percent ($165,000) non-federal share. This project has an estimated award date of April 1, 2009.

  • This project meets NOACA’s Connections 2030 Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
Regional Transportation System (RTS) Team:
  • The floor rating on this bridge is 3, which indicates that the deck is saturated.
  • SR-2 carries a total of 79 buses in both directions (60 GCRTA/19 LAKETRAN) from 3 GCRTA/5 LAKETRAN routes (39X, 39F, 239 / 10, 11, 12, 13, 14).
