On December 8, 2006, the NOACA Governing Board approved the following regarding this project: Resolution No. 2006-047 Project Planning Review Resolution No. 2006-048 Plan Amendment Title:  Preventive Maintenance on I-480 in North Olmsted and Fairview Park Sponsor:  Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)-District 12 PID No.: 77526 Estimated Total Cost: $3,000,000 Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s SFY 2010 Pavement Program. Previous work involved minor rehabilitation from the county line to the bridge over the Rocky River valley completed in 2004 (CUY IR-480 – 0.00: PID No. 21749). Current Conditions: I-480 is functionally classified as an Interstate principal arterial. The legal speed limit is 55 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) varies between from 44,650 to 98,450 vehicles per day (NOACA Cuyahoga County Highway Traffic Counts, published 2004). GCRTA and Lorain County Transit (LCT) operate flyer service along this segment. Proposed Project:  This project involves preventive maintenance on 6.47 miles of I-480, from the Cuyahoga County line to a location over the Rocky River, in North Olmsted and Fairview Park. The estimated cost of construction is $3,000,000. Ninety percent ($2,700,000) of the construction cost will be funded with Interstate Maintenance (IM) funds. The non-federal share of construction ($300,000) will be provided by ODOT. The project has an estimated award date of April 2010. Staff Comment (Summary): Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Team: This project promotes NOACA’s Connections 2030 Plan Goal 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio Goal 1 (System Preservation and Management). GCRTA and LCT Freeway flyer transit service may be disrupted during construction. Part of this project is located in one Urban Core Community, Fairview Park and serves another, Cleveland. Regional Transportation System (RTS) Team: 2003 PCR data rates this pavement as 73 -79 (good). The planned construction date is in 2010.
