Preventative Maintenance on I-271 in Granger Township

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 3’s 2010 Pavement Program.

Current Conditions: I-271 is functionally classified as an interstate. The legal speed limit is 60 miles per hour. The average daily traffic is 26,680 vehicles per day (2004 count).

Proposed Project: This project involves preventive maintenance along 6.58 miles of I-271, from I-71 to the Summit County line in Granger Township. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $1,127,557. Ninety percent ($1,014,801) of the construction cost will be funded with Interstate Maintenance (IM) funds. ODOT will fund the 10% ($112,756) non-federal share. The project has an estimated award date of October 1, 2009.

Plan and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Team:
  • This project promotes NOACA’s Connections 2030 Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • Recommend for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
Regional Transportation System (RTS) Team:
  • In 2006, pavement condition ratings (PCRs) range from 96-99, and in 2010, PCRs are projected to range from 87-93.
