History/Background: On June 14, 2007, the Lorain County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 07-416, requesting that NOACA place the Lorain County guardrail Program Phase 3 project on the TIP for FY 2008 and authorize the County Engineer to administer the project using the LPA (local planning agency) process and also sign the agreement. The County Engineer applied for and received approval for 100% federal safety funding for the installation of guardrail ends at 17 bridge locations throughout Lorain County. The CEAO informed the sponsor that the project can be moved up to FY 2008.

Proposed Project: The project involves installing guardrail ends at 17 bridge locations along various county roads in Lorain County. The sponsor reports the project will upgrade the guardrail and terminal assemblies at bridge ends and bring them up to ODOT standards. The sponsor also states this project is Phase 3 of this work and will bring 17 more bridges into compliance with standards. The County Engineer intends to administer this project using the Ohio Department of Transportation LPA process. The estimated total cost, provided by the sponsor, is $243,496. The project will be funded 100% with CEAO funds. The sponsor reports the project can be awarded in September 2007.
