The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-036 on June 13, 2003.
Title:Wearing Surface Replacement on Various Bridges in Geauga and Lake County Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 12 Estimated Total Cost: $700,000 Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT
History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s SFY 2004 Bridge Program.
Current Conditions: Roadway characteristics and average daily traffic (ADT) vary depending on roadway segment.
Proposed Project: This project involves the wearing surface replacement on three (3) bridges in Geauga County (US-322 over the Chagrin River in Munson Township; US-322 over Phelps Creek in Huntsburg Township; and SR-608 over a tributary to the East Branch Reservoir in Claridon Township) and four (4) bridges in Lake County (I-90 over Kirtland Road in Willoughby; SR-306 over I-90 in Mentor, SR-2 over SR-44 in Painesville Township; and SR-535 over SR-2 in Painesville Township). Eighty percent ($560,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with Bridge (BR) funds. ODOT will use Toll Revenue Credit for the twenty percent (20%) matching share ($140,000). This project would begin construction in SFY 2004.
Staff Comment (Summary):
- This project meets NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
- Some LAKETRAN fixed route service may be affected along I-90 during construction.
- This project does not directly serve Urban Core Community or primary Environmental Justice (E.J.) populations. The project may indirectly serve secondary E.J. populations.
