NOACA, in partnership with the Ohio EPA, the City of Cleveland Division of Air Quality, the Akron Regional Air Quality Management District, the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study, and the Lake County General Health District, are pleased to announce the new Fine Particle Pollution Program (FP3).
The FP3 Program will advise Northeast Ohio residents when fine particle pollution could reach unhealthy levels.
Results from participants in the third annual Commuter Challenge held July 18-25, 2009 will be posted soon.
The following reports are available for viewing:
- Results from the Commuter Challenge 2008
- 2008 Annual Report (5.21 MB - June 2009)
Because particle pollution is more localized than ozone, only the county for which the high monitor readings are occurring will be covered by the Health Advisory.
The counties covered include Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit, just as in the Ozone Action Day Program. Register on-line for our free health advisory e-mail service.
Currently, Northeast Ohio is not meeting the fine particle pollution health standards (National Ambient Air Quality Standards) of the federal Clean Air Act. This program will notify the public when monitor readings are higher than 40 micrograms per cubic meter.
