Bridge Deck Replacement on US 20 in Rocky River

 

The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-036 on June 13, 2003.

History/Background:
This project is included in ODOT District 12’s Bridge Program.

Current Conditions:
US-20 is functionally classified as a principal arterial. It is currently five (5) lanes. Four (4) lanes are proposed. The existing and proposed pavement width is 54 feet with sidewalks six (6) feet wide. The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 13,330 vehicles per day (2000 count). The projected ADT is 18,662 (2020). GCRTA operates service (#326 and #55) along this segment.

Proposed Project:
This project involves replacing the bridge on US-20 (Wooster Road) over I-90 in Rocky River. Ninety percent ($1,098,900) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with Interstate Maintenance (IM) funds. ODOT will fund the remaining ten percent ($122,100). This project has an award date in SFY 2004.

Staff Comment (Summary):

  • This project meets NOACA’s Framework For Action 2025 Plan Goal # 3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • GCRTA service may be affected during construction.
  • The project may indirectly serve secondary Environmental Justice (E.J.) populations via transit.
  • Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
