Cuyahoga County is 459 square miles in land area with a U.S. Bureau of the Census 2006 population estimate of 1,314,241.
The county is named for the local Native American word for “crooked”- referring to the winding Cuyahoga River.
Cuyahoga County has 38 cities, 19 villages and two townships. The county seat is the City of Cleveland. The three County Commissioners (also NOACA Governing Board members) are: Jimmy Dimora, Peter Lawson Jones and Timothy Hagan.

is provided by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit
Authority (a NOACA Governing Board member). Airport services include Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Burke Lakefront Airport and the Cuyahoga County Airport.
