The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-024 on March 14, 2003.
Title: Resurface Claridon Troy Road (CH-3) in Burton Township Sponsor: Geauga County Engineer Estimated Total Cost: $200,000 Proposed Source of Federal Funds: County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) administered funds
History/Background: Sections A – C of Claridon Troy Road were last improved in 1996. The proposed project has been reviewed by the Geauga County Board of Commissioners in open session and approved by the CEAO for funding.
Current Conditions:
Claridon Troy Road is functionally classified as a rural major collector. It is a two-lane facility with lanes 11 feet wide and three-foot paved shoulders. The legal speed limit is 55 miles per hour (mph). The average daily traffic (ADT) is 5,500 vehicles per day with about 2.1% trucks (2000 traffic count).
Proposed Project: This project involves resurfacing the existing asphalt pavement on 1.46 miles of Claridon Troy Road from the Burton Village line to Taylor Wells Road (CH-28) in Burton Township. The proposed pavement width will remain 22 feet with three-foot wide paved shoulders.
Eighty percent ($160,000) of the construction (C) cost will be funded with CEAO-administered Surface Transportation Program (C/STP) funds. The Geauga County Engineer will provide the non-federal share of construction ($40,000). Preliminary engineering (PE) and right-of-way (RW) costs will also be borne by the sponsor. County engineer staff will design the project. The county engineer will request to administer the project following local standards. The project will be designed and ready for construction in the summer of 2006.
