Title: Paint Various Bridges along I-71 in Cuyahoga County

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s State Fiscal Year 2010 Bridge Maintenance Program.
Current Conditions: I-71 is functionally classified as an urban interstate. The legal speed limit is 55 miles per hour. The average daily traffic varies from 86,700 to 97,800 vehicles per day (NOACA Cuyahoga County Highway Traffic Counts, published 2004).
Proposed Project: This project involves painting possibly five bridges (depending on status of bid prices and paint specifications) along I-71, from West 130th Street to Memphis Avenue, in the City of Cleveland (location map). The estimated construction cost is $5,700,000. Ninety percent ($5,130,000) of the construction cost will be funded with Interstate Maintenance (IM) funds. ODOT will fund ten percent of the construction cost ($570,000). This project has an award date of March 18, 2010.

- This project is consistent with NOACA’s Connections 2030 Plan Goal #3 (Preserve and Improve the Efficiency of the Transportation System) and ODOT’s Access Ohio 2004 - 2030 Goal #4 (System Preservation).
