 | Governing Board Action: April 8, 2005
At today’s monthly Governing Board meeting, members discussed the following items:
- Transportation Plan Goals, Strategies and Actions
The Board accepted the Goals, Strategies and Actions to be included in NOACA’s new Long-Range Transportation Plan, called Connections 2030, which identifies the region’s major transportation investments and strategies 25 years into the future. The document accepted by the Board outlines progress toward the ten goals that form the foundation of the current Transportation Plan and that are guiding the development of Connections 2030. In addition, the document spells out the strategies and actions for advancing these goals under the new Plan.
- Tier III and IV Project Lists
The Board approved the Tier III and IV Project Lists for the northeast Ohio region’s new Transportation Plan, Connections 2030. Projects on the Tier III and Tier IV lists are those that are under study or part of a visionary plan for the future.
The Tier I and Tier II Project Lists, which include major transportation projects expected to be completed in the next 25 years, were approved the Governing Board in February.
- Air Quality
The Board also approved a resolution to hire a consultant to communicate and advertise the region’s Ozone Action Days Program. The program emphasizes public and local government awareness of voluntary ozone-reducing actions. The consultant, to be selected via a competitive bid process, will perform marketing, media buys, materials production and intern assistance. The Board also agreed to renew the contract with Ohio University to maintain and support the Northeast Ohio Air Quality Online Web site, which offers public access to real-time air quality data.
- Water Quality
The Board approved an extension for the contract NOACA has with David Lewin Corporation to provide geotechnical services for the second phase of the hillside subsidence work for the Lower Big Creek in Ward 15 in Cleveland — roughly bordered by Denison Avenue, Broadview Road/Valley Road, Pearl Road and the Cuyahoga River.
