RTIS/Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting Agenda

NOACA’s Air Quality Programs encourage you not to let your car or truck engine idle. Idling gets zero miles per gallon! One hour of idling burns an entire gallon of fuel. For cars, it’s less wasteful to turn off the key if you will be stopped for 30 seconds or longer. For trucks, the breakpoint is 2-3 minutes.

Help clear the air, save fuel, and save money by turning off your vehicle when you’re not moving. Here are some items to assist you and your community:

  1. USEPA Model Anti-Idling Ordinance. Encourage your community to adopt this! Six cities in Northeast Ohio have already done so.
  2. Cuyahoga County Vehicle Idling Policy.
  3. Presentation on Air Pollution and Idling.
  4. Aluminum all-weather outdoor anti-idling signs, 12”x18”, top and bottom drilled for posting at parking lots, loading docks, etc. Have your community or employer call to get their free signs! (Quantities are limited. First come, first served.)
