Air Quality Issues

NOACA addresses Air Quality issues on several fronts:

NOACA keeps its local governments informed about current and future regulations that may require additional local planning to curb air pollution. For additional information regarding NOACA’s Air Quality efforts, contact NOACA.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is the federal agency charged with oversight of air pollution control, monitoring, and planning activities. It sets clean air standards to protect the public health and welfare. Additional information on USEPA’s air quality efforts can be found at its Office of Air and Radiation Home Page, and at its air pollution information site AIRNOW.

USEPA has delegated many of its air pollution efforts to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OHIO EPA). Information on the State’s programs and efforts can be found at its Division of Air Pollution Control website.

Nonattainment Status

USEPA has put together a web page that contains SIP status reports.

The nonattainment areas for all of Ohio, and their current status, can be found on EPA's web site.

You are encouraged to visit the USEPA site frequently for the most up-to-date information.

Local Air Agencies (LAAs)

Ohio EPA has delegated some of its air pollution efforts to Local Air Agencies (LAAs). LAAs serve one or more counties and generally assist Ohio EPA with monitoring and/or permitting efforts. Click here for a listing of LAA contact information for Northeast Ohio.
