Resurfacing of SR-57 in Lorain

 

The NOACA Governing Board approved the following project for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adopting Resolution No. 2003-049 on September 12, 2003.

History/Background:
This project was developed through ODOT's Urban Paving Program.

Current Conditions:
SR-57 in the project area is also identified as Broadway, East 28th Street and Grove Avenue. SR-57 is functionally classified as an urban principal arterial. The average daily traffic (ADT) on SR-57 varies between 9,550 to 15,450 vehicles per day (1997 count).

Proposed Project:
This project involves resurfacing approximately 4.67 miles of SR-57, from US-6 (East Erie Avenue) to 0.02 mile south of East 36th Street, in Lorain. The total construction cost is estimated to be $810,732. Twenty-five percent of the construction (C) cost ($202,664) will be funded with ODOT District 3’s allocation of National Highway (NH) funds. Thirty-six percent ($289,898) will be funded with ODOT District 3’s allocation of Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds. The City of Lorain will provide the remaining thirty-nine percent non-federal share ($318,170). The project is to be awarded in October 2004.

Staff Comment (Summary):

  • This project is in keeping with NOACA’s infrastructure principle of maintaining the existing system.
  • Project is in adherence to ODOT’s “Access Ohio” Goal # 1 (System Preservation and Management).
  • Move for committee and public review in order to obtain comments.
Intergovernmental Review (IGR):
NOACA has not received unsupportive comments from local governments about this project.

Public Involvement:
NOACA has received no comments from the public on this project.
