Plane and Pave IR-76 in Wadsworth and Wadsworth Township

Governing Board approved on 9/14/01 with Resolution 2001-052

Title: Plane and pave IR-76 in Wadsworth and Wadsworth Township
Sponsor:  ODOT 3
Estimated Total Cost: $1,800,000
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: ODOT

History/Background:
This project is a District Allocation Project.

Current Conditions:

IR-76 is a four lane divided highway. It is functionally classified as an urban interstate principal arterial in the Akron Urbanized Area.  The average daily traffic (ADT) on IR-76 varies between 10,150 to 12,250 vehicles per day (1997 count).

Proposed Project:
This project involves planing and paving 5 miles of IR-76, from 0.69 mile west of SR-57 (Wadsworth Road) to the Medina/Summit County Line in Wadsworth and Wadsworth Township. The total construction cost is estimated to be $1,800,000.  Eighty percent of the construction cost ($1,440,000) will be funded with ODOT District 3's allocation of Surface Transportation Program (S/STP) funds.  ODOT 3 will provide the twenty percent non-federal share ($360,000). ODOT 3 will undertake plan preparation in-house.  Construction is expected to occur in SFY 2005.

Staff Comment (Summary):

This project's scope is in keeping with NOACA's infrastructure principle of maintaining the existing system.  This project is to be undertaken following the improvement of MED IR 76-0.00 (PID No. 20227) to be constructed in SFY 2003.  IR-76 is a route on the National Highway System.  Staff recommends approval to add this project to NOACA's TIP for construction in SFY 2005.
