On March 14, 2008, the NOACA Governing Board approved the following regarding this project:
Resolution No. 2008-008 Project Planning Review
Resolution No. 2008-009 Plan and TIP Amendment
Title: Slide Repair on SR-283 in Eastlake
Sponsor: City of Eastlake
PID No: 83402
Estimated Total Cost: $382,000
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)
History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s maintenance program.
Current Conditions: SR-283 (Lakeshore Boulevard) is functionally classified as an urban minor arterial. SR-283 is a two-lane facility with lanes 11 feet wide, bicycle lanes four feet wide and berms four feet wide. The existing pavement width is 30 feet and the existing bridge width is 38 feet. The width of the existing right-of-way varies from 100 to 160 feet. The legal speed limit is 35 miles per hour and the average daily traffic is 9,190 vehicles per day with about three percent trucks (2005 count).
Proposed Project: The project involves the removal and replacement of approximately 100 linear feet of highway embankment along the north side of SR-283, about 0.37 miles east of the Chagrin River Bridge and opposite the Eastlake Middle School in the city of Eastlake. The work includes replacing part of an existing 36" culvert crossing on SR -283 at this same location and the construction of a retaining structure at the toe of the slope (if needed). The sponsor reports that some ground vegetation will be removed and replaced with grass. The total construction cost is estimated to be $382,000. Eighty percent ($305,600) of the construction cost will be funded from District 12’s landslide and erosion assistance (slips, slides, mine subsidence) Federal Program. Twenty percent ($76,400) of the construction cost will be funded by the City of Eastlake. The sponsor estimates the project can be awarded in March 2010.
