On March 14, 2008, the NOACA Governing Board approved the following regarding this project:
Resolution No. 2008-008 Project Planning Review
Resolution No. 2008-009 Plan and TIP Amendment

Title: Slide and Pavement Settlement Repair along SR-174 in Gates Mills
Sponsor: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) - District 12
PID No: 83399
Estimated Total Cost: $384,700
Proposed Source of Federal Funds: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)

History/Background: This project is included in ODOT District 12’s maintenance program.

Current Conditions: SR-174 (Chagrin River Road) is functionally classified as an urban collector. SR-174 is a two-lane facility with lanes 11 feet wide and paved shoulders two feet wide. The existing pavement width is 26 feet and the width of the existing right-of-way is 60 feet. The legal speed limit is 35 miles per hour. The average daily traffic is 1,870 vehicles per day with about four percent trucks (2003 count).

Proposed Project: The project involves slide and pavement settlement repair along SR-174 at the Old Mill Road bridge and near the Nursery, in the Village of Gates Mills. The sponsor reports that tree and plant removal is necessary at Old Mill Road and that some ground vegetation will be removed at the Nursery location and replaced with grass. The total construction cost is estimated to be $384,500. Eighty percent ($307,600) of the construction cost will be funded from District 12’s landslide and erosion assistance (slips, slides, mine subsidence) Federal Program. Twenty percent ($76,900) of the construction cost will be funded by ODOT. The sponsor estimates the project can be awarded in January 2010.
