Healthy Air Days Declared A Success!
Thanks to all of the support we received, HEALTHY AIR DAYS was a huge success! With the help of our partners, we were able to efficiently and effectively educate and engage residents throughout Northeast Ohio in an interactive public outreach campaign!
We would like to thank our regional media for their fine weeklong coverage of Healthy Air Days. Healthy Air Days received great press coverage including interviews with WCPN, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and WCUE.
A special thank you to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, especially Steve Bitto and John McCauley, for the partnering of “Try Transit Week” with our Healthy Air Days celebration and for their extensive involvement in this year’s NO DRIVE DAY!
The Earth Day Coalition helped to promote a "No Drive Day" Wednesday, May 17 by creating a pledge page on their website for supporters to pledge not to drive.
GCRTA has also committed to installing "BE IDLE FREE – TURN OF THE KEY" static cling decals on each of its buses.
Lake County General Health District, one of our region’s local air agencies, mailed out over 2,000 FP3 and OAD brochures to school districts and libraries in Lake County.
NOACA helped increase public awareness with the "Green Bag Lunch Series" presentation to employees of the Cleveland Metroparks and of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo: "Ozone Reduction and Air Quality" held May 17, 2006
Thank you to the Cleveland Marathon's Health and Fitness Expo volunteers, Dan Boyle, Mike Chicchelly, Gayle Godek, Chandra Hinchen, David Hearne, Sharon Martin, Sharon McDuffie, David Parsh, Sarah Rehner, Valerie Shaffer, Valencia White and JoAnnYork for helping make the day a success! We gave away over 970 compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and over 800 "BE IDLE FREE" decals, helping the region cut back on coal-fired power plant emissions while teaching the public the benefits of being IDLE FREE! Generally, this means we (and our volunteers) had a conversation about air quality with over 1,300 people.
Both the OAD Program brochure and the FP3 Program brochure were handed out to each of the participants in the Cleveland Marathon totaling over 18,800 brochures circulated by this single event!
An extra note of thanks goes to First Energy for donating funds to provide our FREE CFL bulb giveaway program!
And of course, in the event that we forgot someone – WE THANK YOU!
For everyone: Test your knowledge of air pollution!
